Avocados are often quite hard when you buy them but soften quickly at room temperature or more rapidly in a paper bag with a banana. To prevent cut edges going brown sprinkle with lemon juice and if you are only using half of the fruit leave the stone in.
Some Healthy Food Recipes With Avocado
Green Power House! a smooth creamy vegetable juice.
- 2 apples
- 2 sticks of celery
- piece of cucumber
- 1 handful of baby spinach leaves
- Half an avocado
- Small teaspoon Spirulina powder or Wheatgrass (optional)
Juice all the ingredients except the avocado. Pour the juice over 10 ice cubes and the avocado and blend until smooth. Drink while chilled. Experiment with other leaves or favorite veggies and enjoy!
Smooth Skinny Guacalmole! for dips or on chunky
whole grain bread.
- 2 ripe avocados peeled and stoned.
- Juice of 1 lime.
- 2 cloves of garlic.
- 3 dessert spoons of Low fat cream cheese or quark.
Blend everything in a food processor until smooth and creamy.
Add a little more quark or cream cheese if you want to use the quacamole for a dip.
Season with a little sea salt and fresh black pepper.
