Healthy Nutrient Rich Apple Food Tips Although tasty and good for you, apple sauce and apple juice are not as nourishing as the whole apple. Also make sure to eat the skin as not only are the aromatics that give apples their luscious fragrance stored there but also the fiber and almost half of the Vitamin C is just below the skin so you will effectively strip away the apple benefits by peeling. Eating an apple fifteen minutes before a full meal may reduce overall hunger and therefore help you consume less. They add bulk and a sense of fullness that will help those who are dieting. If you store apples in bulk, make sure to remove any apples that are bruised or damaged in any way. We have heard the adage of “one bad apple spoils the whole bunch.” This is due to ethylene gas release and one bad apple will truly start to taint the good ones in your storage container.
