Beetroot Juice Can Help Prevent
Age Related Memory Loss.

In a study at Wake Forest University, U.S. beetroot juice was shown to increase blood flow to the parts of the brain associated with age related Memory loss and dementia.

Research has shown that beetroot can lower blood pressure but at Wake Forest University they wanted to show that beetroot actually increases blood flow to a specific area of the brain. An area of the brain where blood flow lessens as we age causing memory loss and the onset of dementia.

Results of the study indicate that the high nitrate content of beetroot juice given to the 70 year old participants increased the blood flow to the white matter in the frontal lobes. The part of the brain associated with degeneration that leads to dementia and other cognitive conditions.

Ok, sounds good but how will we eat so much of this good thing?
Try beetroot juice laced with tangy, spicy, or sweet fruity flavors. Use the recipe suggestions below and experiment by adding your favorite fruits until the taste is right for you.

Detox Day!

  • 1 x raw beetroot
  • 2 x apples
  • 4 x small carrots
  • 1 cm piece of ginger

Juice all ingredients together and enjoy with the sweetness of carrots and apple plus the faint zing of ginger. Beetroot, apples, carrots and ginger are all terrific cleansers plus apples have the anti cancer nutrient Quercetin.

Ruby Glory!

  • 2 x beetroots
  • 4 x oranges
  • 1 cm piece of ginger

Here the benefits of beetroot juice are enhanced by the immunity boosting vitamins in oranges.

A sweeter version!

Beetroot Lite!

  • 2 x carrots
  • 1 x apple
  • Half an orange
  • Quarter of beetroot
  • 2 x celery sticks

This is a lighter tasting version. Perhaps a good place to begin. Experiment with more beet as you get used to the taste. This juice is rich in betacarotine, vitamin C, potassium and antioxidant nutrients.

The raw beetroot is an aquired taste so don't worry about changing the amount of ingredients or choosing totally different ones to make your juice taste as good for you as it is for you!
