About Me I'm glad you came to find out about me. Connecting with you and other women of our age is what this website is about. My name is Carol Engelmann and I am 63 years old. My life has been a roller coaster of happiness and highlights, difficult times and tragedies. Only now that the ride is slowing down do I realize how much I have learned along the way. This treasure trove of experience is the foundation of my confidence. I intend to enjoy every moment of this precious life, wrinkles, a few extra pounds and all! In our 50s and 60s so many things change. It's easy for us to feel less important, not so necessary, even replaceable, less competetive, less attractive. But it's my belief that by placing more focus on ourselves now, we can do, be or have anything we want. Back to about me... My beauty and hairdressing experience goes back to the sixties when I began my training at Pontypridd Tech. I went on to own and run 4 salons in Cardiff, South Wales (anyone remember?) Cut & Dryed was one of the first unisex cut and blow dry salons. Cool in those days! In my salons I watched young women morph from schoolgirl to stunning with a great haircut a hint of color and a few make up tips. Over the years I have learned that the same effect is achievable at any age. In fact the older we get the more important it is to use everything available to us to boost our confidence. Whatever makes us feel good builds confidence. Whether that's a beauty treatment, losing some weight, getting a lovely (safe) tan on holiday or just treating ourselves to a new mascara. Back to about me again...I married a German Air Force Pilot and went to live in the beautiful City of Freiburg in Germany.Then my world was turned upside down. I was just 41 when my husband died in an airplane accident. Two years later just as I was recovering I was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy. With the help of my two wonderful kids and a huge family I learned that time can heal. I overcame my fears, survived and began to live again. This time with new eyes, a new gratefulness and a passionate interest in how to stay healthy.  Re-invent the rest of your life! At this time in our lives we have a lot of very useful experience, a better view of the big picture, more time and loads of enthusiasm. Nothing is impossible. Our age group is targeted by almost every industry with unbeatable deals on travel, learning new skills, staying fit and healthy and updating our technical abilities. The anti aging beauty industry alone spends millions on research into keeping our looks. Not in a flawless skin, shiny long hair way but a confident, glowing, mature women way.  This is my goal. Let's take our focus off what we are losing and take advantage of what's on offer. Stay healthy, fit and as slim as it suits you. Travel, take part in whatever excites you. Learn something new, photography, water colors or go dancing.This time in our lives is all "about me" time, so use every trick on these website pages to make yourself look and feel good, then go out and have the time of your life!Sit on top of that proverbial "hill" in the sunshine and contemplate with a smile on your face all the new opportunities winking up at you!
